For all you foodies, the Manchester Food & Drink Festival is almost upon us. Based in the heart of one of the UK’s largest cities, the Manchester Food & Drink Festival is a nationally acclaimed event that has been running for over 16 years.
This is an urban festival that doesn’t happen in a single place in the city; instead there are indoor and outdoor events and activities that are spread out across much of the city centre and many of the surrounding areas. The event is highly popular, with over 150,000 visitors to the Festival Hub in the city centre at last year’s event (2012).
As usual, the Festival Hub will be in Albert Square, which during the festival will be home to, among other things, a beer festival, a street food festival and an artisan food market. There will even be a series of classes being held on food preparation, including how to pluck a pheasant.
The beer festival situated in the Festival Hub will be serving up over 100 different local beers. If you enjoy a nice, cold glass of beer then it should be worth noting that over 40,000 pints of the stuff were enjoyed by visitors at last year’s event.
The street food festival will be serving up a variety of different cuisines from various vendors. Whilst there, why not check out:
Pizza Peddlers – serving fresh pizzas out the back of a Citroën van made from fresh local produce.
Churros Susanna – dishing up vegan and dairy free churros, alongside some delicious chocolate dipping sauce.
Exotic Game by Ank Marvin Ltd – letting you try something a little different; why not sample some of Ank Marvin Ltd’s zebra steaks or llama sausages?
Not only will there be events held in the Festival Hub, but also many of Manchester’s restaurants and pubs will also be getting in on the action by hosting their own events for the festival. No matter where you are in the city, you are sure to be able to enjoy the Manchester Food & Drink Festival.
The festival takes place from the 26th of September to the 7th of October 2013. If you are looking for a place to stay during your time at the event, then you can check out the available Accor hotels in Manchester.
